Breast Enlargement

If you are concerned about the way you look, there are always certain areas that will nag away at you time after time. The breasts are the number one thing we discuss with our potential patients. With many, breast enlargement is their aim. They feel that it affects them in life in many ways, such as:

  • Making them less attractive to the opposite sex

  • Feeling self-conscious in the summer months with fewer clothes

  • Avoiding social events because they don’t feel confident about the way you look

And none of these are happy places to be in life. Larger breasts can give you the confidence to go out there and become a success in the world. For many women, it is a sign of their womanhood. It is the most visible and most obvious way to determine women from men when clothed. Having small breasts is something that some women just don’t like. But they don’t have to put up with it.
Breast enlargement surgery in the National Health Service means a long wait and many questions from all manner of health professionals. Getting it done privately in the UK or Ireland can be a very costly affair. This means that you have a choice – find deep pockets or be prepared to wait for a very long time. But it doesn’t have to be like this. Lithuania is a place where women flock for breast enlargements that are value for money and where surgery is carried out to the very same EU standards found in the UK and Ireland.

What You Need To Know About Breast Enlargement

The female breasts have always been one of the symbols of femininity and sexuality. Over time, even the firm, good-shaped breasts change losing their youthful appearance: firmness is reduced, and the breasts sag as well as lose their volume. Not only older women, but also mothers who have breastfed, frequently experience sagging breasts. Breast enlargement is performed when a women desire larger breast and wants to restore breast volume lost after pregnancy or to correct a marked asymmetry due to the different size of the breasts.

The first step toward a breast enlargement procedure is a consultation with a plastic surgeon. During the consultation be honest and open with the surgeon about your wishes and expectations, as the final surgical outcome will depend on this.

The breasts are enlarged with implants. Below you can see the different options you can choose before the surgery. During the consultation with our surgeon, you will find out which of the options is the right one just for you.

Implants

  • Silicone (plastic gel);

  • Saline (sterile salt water).

During the consultation, the surgeon will explain you the difference and advice which are the best.

Shape and size:

  • Round shape implants - are an ideal choice for women with firm, good and round-shaped natural breasts wishing a simple breast enlargement.

  • Teardrop (anatomical) implants - are an ideal chose for women who have the breasts of the similar shape. In addition, these implants are a good option for patients wishing less fullness in the upper part of the breast.

During the consultation, a 3D simulation technique can be utilised to simulate possible surgical results of breast augmentation, and this can help a woman better imagine the potential size and shape of the breast that may be achieved. The implants are selected considering woman’s expectations and desires as well as surgical possibilities.

Placement of implant

  • Under the muscle – “Submuscular”;

  • Under the glandular tissue – “Subglandural”;

  • Partly under the muscle – “Dual Plane”.

Placement of surgical incision

  • Beneath the breast – “Inframammary”;

  • Around the areola of the nipple – “Periareolar”;

  • In the armpit – “Axillary”.

  • The choice of incision placement depends on patient’s desires and her anthropometric data.

Consultation

  • During the consultation, the patient’s anthropometric parameters will be evaluated, which directly influence the outcome of breast augmentation and the shape of the breasts:

  • Patient’s body weight, constitution, and height;

  • Natural size, shape, and symmetry of the breasts;

  • Location of the nipple;

  • Elasticity of breast skin;

  • Shape and dimension of the chest wall.

How Is the Surgery Performed?

The surgery is performed under general anaesthesia, and it takes about 2 hours. The placement of the incision is selected during the consultation.

What Should Be Known After Surgery?

  • The swelling in the breasts remains for 2–3 weeks;

  • Bandages over the surgical sites should be changed every 2–3 days;

  • The stitches are removed on the 8th–12th day after the surgery;

  • During the first weeks after the surgery, the patient is not allowed raising her arms above her head, as it can cause repositioning of the implants from their location;

  • A special surgical bra should be worn for 6 weeks after surgery (22–23 hours per day);

  • Strenuous physical activities and exercising are strongly discouraged for 2–3 months after the surgery;

  • The patient can return to work within a few days if her occupation does not require strenuous movements and arm rising.

Frequently Asked Questions

How to choose implants for the breast enlargement?

One of the most important decisions is the choice of the size and shape of the implants for the breast enlargement. Often patients wish to have a 3rd or 4th size of the breast, but it is necessary to take into account a number of factors. All women are different: body weight, constitution, and height; natural size, shape, and symmetry of the breasts; location of the nipple; elasticity of breast skin; shape and dimension of the chest. So it means that 320 g implant can be the best size for one, and too big or too small for the other. Because of that, it is very important that you come to a consultation with an idea of the desired size and understanding that everything will depend on your body structure. You have a choice of two different implants:

  • Silicone (plastic gel);
  • Saline (sterile salt water).
As well you can choose between different shape and size:
  • Round shape implants - are an ideal choice for women with firm, good and round-shaped natural breasts wishing a simple breast enlargement.
  • Teardrop (anatomical) implants - are an ideal chose for women who have the breasts of the similar shape. In addition, these implants are a good option for patients wishing less fullness in the upper part of the breast.
During the consultation, a plastic surgeon will give you some valuable bits of advice and will help you to choose the right size and shape of implants by using special inserts into your bra. After this, you should get a feeling of the right choice. As well, during the consultation, you will hear about the operation, recovery time, negative consequences and how to eliminate them. Don’t forget to ask as many questions that concern you.

What placement of surgical incision is possible?

  • Beneath the breast – “Inframammary”;
  • Around the areola of the nipple – “Periareolar”;
  • In the armpit – “Axillary”.
The choice of incision placement depends on patient’s desires and her anthropometric data. You will discuss this in consultation with your doctor.

What will be my breast size after surgery?

One of the most important questions before the operation is - what will be my breast size after operation? It applies to enlargement, lift, and reduction. Even after a breast lift the breast can change its shape and volume. It is impossible to talk about the standard size of the breast. Everything should be determined individually. Computer software with photoshop can be used to show the patient how she will look with the different sizes of the breast. But the best way is to use sizers, or special inserts with a different volume. In case of breast enlargement they can be placed into patient's bra and thus you can see and feel which breast size and shape is best to you. Breast reduction requires a little bit more attention. Having trouble to find bra for big breast occasionally woman asks to reduce it to the 3rd or C size. But after she shown the picture of similar patients she askes for even smaller of bigger size. Therefore, when planning a breast reduction operation, it is necessary not only to ask the patient what size she wants, but also to show her visually few examples of how her breasts may look like after the operation. Patient should remember - there is no standard measure for everyone. Each case is specific, and it is necessary to discuss everything in detail with your surgeon. Only after all of the questions answered and all concerns removed you can be certain to choose the right size of your breast.

How quickly can I return to my normal life and go to work after breast enlargement?

  • The swelling in the breasts remains for 2–3 weeks;
  • Bandages over the surgical sites should be changed every 2–3 days;
  • The stitches are removed on the 8th–12th day after the surgery;
  • During the first weeks after the surgery, the patient is not allowed raising her arms above her head, as it can cause repositioning of the implants from their location;
  • A special surgical bra should be worn for 6 weeks after surgery (22–23 hours per day);
  • Strenuous physical activities and exercising are strongly discouraged for 2–3 months after the surgery;
  • The patient can return to work within a few days if her occupation does not require strenuous movements and arm rising.
